Woman charged in connection with fatal ATV crash near Iroquois

A 21-year-old South Dundas woman has been charged in connection with fatal ATV collision near Iroquois in August.

Jasmine Saunders, 18, died in hospital on Oct. 28 as a result of injuries she suffered in the Aug. 17 crash, OPP said in a media release last week.

Saunders was one of three people aboard an eastbound ATV at 12:13 a.m., Aug 17, when it went off Broken Second Road and rolled over into a ditch between Marine Station Road and County Road 1 in South Dundas Township.

Everyone aboard was thrown from the ATV. Two were taken to hospital with serious injuries. A third was taken by helicopter with life-threatening injuries.

In a media release on Thursday, Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry OPP said they had laid charges related to the incident.

Montana Gabriel, 21, of South Dundas, is charged with operating a motor vehicle while impaired causing death, criminal negligence causing death and criminal negligence causing bodily harm, among other charges.

She is scheduled to appear at Cornwall court on Nov. 29.
