Remembrance Day is right around the corner and there will be many memorials held across Calgary on Sunday to mark the 100th anniversary of the 1918 armistice, which ended the First World War.
From 21-gun salutes, somber speeches and charity drives collecting donations for veterans in need, Postmedia has rounded up a number of Remembrance Day ceremonies for Calgarians to honour the fallen and those who continue to serve.
The Military Museums service
The Military Museums will host a ceremony prior to the museums opening for curious Calgarians to learn more about Canada’s part in numerous military conflicts.
Food bank donation boxes will be set up for Calgarians to bring non-perishable food items to donate to veterans’ support groups.
The service starts at 10:30 a.m. with the arrival of guests of honour, followed by a wreath laying ceremony at 11:30.
