WHATSAPP’S latest update adds a glut of new features to the world’s most popular messaging tool.
The upgrade introduces a shake-up to Group Chats called ‘reply privately’, while also letting you add stickers to your images, videos and GIFs.

Reputable tech outlet WABetaInfo, renowned for meticulously analysing beta and alpha versions of software, uncovered the new features.
They’ll be packaged with WhatsApp’s 2.19.10 iOS update.
The company has yet to give an official release date for the download, but it’s expected imminently.
Here’s everything you need to know about the changes.
Reply privately feature
This new tool makes it quick and easy to reply privately to individual people within a Group Chat.
If someone messages the whole group, you can tap and hold that message to open a ‘reply privately’ option.
Hit that option, and WhatsApp will automatically open a private chat window with that person.
The feature makes it easier to message your phone number to an individual rather than the whole group – or to gossip about other members of the chat.
You will shortly be able to add stickers to images, GIFs and videos[/caption]
Add stickers to images, videos and GIFs
The update lets you place stickers on any GIF, video or image.
Once you’ve selected something to send, you’ll have the option to add stickers by tapping an emoji icon at the top of the screen.
The redesigned multimedia section will let you choose between Content Stickers, Personal Stickers and Emojis, according to WABetaInfo.
3D touch actions for status
WhatsApp’s update also throws 3D actions for status into the mix – so long as you have 3D Touch technology enabled on your iPhone.
This will allow you to preview status updates published by your contacts.
You will also be able to quickly mute the status update.
WABetaInfo said: “When you peek a status update, WhatsApp won’t send the read receipt: so using this trick, you can invisibly see the first status update without sending any read notification!”
Group stickers are also coming to the messaging service[/caption]
Group stickers together
Normally on WhatsApp, if you send two stickers at once they simply line up next to one another.
The new update adds a ‘Message Info’ section that shows you a specific sent sticker when it’s grouped with another one.
It will also be possible to forward or delete a single sticker without selecting the other of the pair.

The update reveal follows the news yesterday that WhatsApp is finally adding a dark mode.
It inverts the colours on your screen to create a darker theme for prolonged browsing and messaging at night.
Developers hope the change will reduce the strain on your eyes after lots of screen time.
