Westbound lanes of Interstate 70 closed in Denver due to serious crash that sent two to hospital

All westbound lanes of Interstate 70 are closed at the Colorado Boulevard exit in Denver Sunday afternoon due to a serious crash that sent two people to the hospital.

Two vehicles collided about 12:50 p.m. near the Brighton Boulevard exit, Denver police spokesman Doug Schepman said.

At least three people were involved in the crash and two were taken by ambulance to the hospital, he said. The severity of their injuries were unknown.

Officials with the Colorado Department of Transportation announced the closure at 1 p.m. Sunday and said there was no estimated time for the road to reopen.

Denver police continued to investigate the cause of the crash Sunday afternoon. Details about the people injured and the types of vehicles involved were not immediately available, Schepman said.
