Two pedestrians hurt after crash sends vehicle into their path

Two pedestrians were taken to hospital in serious condition after a two-car crash caused one of the vehicles to hit them.

Surrey RCMP say the pair were at 148th Street and Fraser Highway when a crash between a Ford and Acura in the intersection sent one of the vehicles into their path, striking them.

The 50-year-old man and 50-year-old woman were both taken to hospital in serious condition after the crash, which happened Saturday at about 6:35 p.m.

Both drivers stayed at the scene and are co-operating with investigators, said Surrey RCMP Sgt. Tyler Wickware in a release late Saturday.

He said alcohol and drugs are not believed to be factors.

Westbound traffic on Fraser Highway was expected to be shut for several hours.

Anyone with information or dash-cam footage is asked to call RCMP at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
