A fire burning on one side of the house at 613 Avenue H South on Saturday caused the vacant house next door to ignite.
The call to the Saskatoon Fire Department came at 12:33 p.m. and crews arrived in four minutes, according to a fire department news release. They saw the flames had spread to 611 Avenue H South and called for another engine to help with the attack.
The initial fire was brought under control in 10 minutes. Crews searched both homes and found no occupants.
“Portions of the walls and roof were removed from both homes while crews worked to extinguish any remaining hot spots, and later used ventilation fans to clear the remaining smoke,” the news release said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Total damages to the two homes are estimated at $230,000.
