Toyota Mexico has accidentally revealed the new 2020 Toyota Supra in full before its official debut on Monday at the Detroit auto show, in a video posted to Twitter.
A tweet posted on January 11th by @ToyotaMex reads “Our new #Supra arrived in Japan!, and this is the story that #AkioToyoda tells us about its return.” The tweet came along with a full video showing the new Supra from all angles.
The tweet has already been taken down, but it was up for just long enough for a whole bunch of people on twitter to take screenshots and make gifs.
Obviously, it looks exactly like we expected, taking most of its styling cues from the FT-1 concept from wayyy back.
According to Twitter, the design is quite polarizing, with most people in the “it’s ugly” camp. But we think maybe they’re just whiners who have been waiting too long, and would never have bought one anyway.
The car is based on a BMW Z4 and uses a lot of the same parts, but the similarities stop there.
The new Supra will have its own engine tune, different weight, and we’re still waiting on that manual transmission! Its official full reveal will happen early next week at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
