’Swords’ Tanigawa earns academic honors

Chaminade senior defender Alyssa Tanigawa was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District 8 Women’s Soccer Team on Thursday.

The Roosevelt High graduate, a three-time academic all-PacWest honoree, has a 4.0 GPA in accounting. Tanigawa, the only PacWest player on the all-district team, is eligible for academic All-American honors, which will be announced in December.

Tanigawa started five of the final six matches for the Silverswords.

Wahine volleyball banquet Nov. 18

The annual banquet for the Hawaii women’s volleyball team is Sunday, Nov. 18, at the Ala Moana Hotel’s Hibiscus Ballroom.

The event will honor seniors Tita Akiu, Natasha Burns, Casey Castillo, Angel Gaskin, McKenna Granato, Sara Liva and Faith Ma‘afala. Tickets are $80 for booster club members and $100 for non-members.

Check-in begins at 5:30 p.m., with a buffet dinner and program starting at 6 p.m. The deadline is today to avoid a $10 late fee.
