AKRON, Ohio – The Summit County Division of Animal Control is discounting adoption fees for dogs and cats from Dec. 10 through Dec. 22 at the agency’s facility at 250 Opportunity Parkway in Akron.
The 12 Dogs of Christmas/Meowy Christmas event is sponsored by County Executive Ilene Shapiro and Fiscal Officer Kristen M. Scalise and aims to give cats and dogs “forever” homes.
Adoption fees are $10 per dog (regularly $94) and $5 per cat (regularly $60). All animals have received blood work, flea treatments, intestinal de-worming, and vaccinations. They also have been spayed or neutered. Individuals who adopt a dog will be required to buy a 2019 dog license for $18.
Animal control is accepting dog and cat food donations during the event.
The Division of Animal Control is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. To view photos of adoptable animals, visit the Summit County Animal Control Facility Facebook page.
