Single-engine aircraft goes off runway at Centennial Airport

A single engine aircraft went off the runway at Centennial Airport Wednesday morning. Two people were on board but there were no injuries.

Officers from South Metro Fire and Rescue are at the scene to help evaluate how to move the aircraft, according to a tweet from the airport. The runway has been shut down.

It is not known what caused the incident to happen, but it is the latest of several similar accidents at Centennial Airport.

In April, a small plane traveled off the runway and a single-engine aircraft crashed following a hard landing. In February, two aircrafts had rough landings in a single afternoon.

Deborah Grigsby Smith, an airport spokeswoman, cited the business of the airport as the reason for the string of incidents.

“Is there a reason we keep having accidents on 1-25?” she said.
