The northside riding of Edmonton-Castle Downs re-elected NDP Nicole Goehring for a second term Tuesday.

Goehring was poised to hold onto her seat at 10 p.m., with an almost 1,500 vote lead over the UCP candidate Ed Ammar’s second-place spot.

Goehring was not available for comment Tuesday night.

Prior to being swept up in the NDP “orange crush” in 2015, Edmonton-Castle Downs had been held by former Progressive Conservative deputy premier Thomas Lukaszuk. Goehring, a social worker, won with a huge majority in 2015.
