But it turns out the second in-line to the throne is a big fan of the affordable chicken chain.
Speaking at a forum encouraging young entrepreneurs in the Commonwealth, the 35-year-old Prince told Robert Brozin, who founded the company, that he had dabbled in Nando’s with a member of his team.
Introduced by staff
Pointing to his police protection officer, William said: “This man here is your biggest fan, he’s introduced me to Nando’s. It’s very good. He should buy a stake in Nando’s.”
William did not reveal how spicy he can take his chicken, however.
Brozin, who co-founded Nando’s in Johannesburg in 1987, said he wasn’t surprised the future King had sampled his Peri Peri delights.
“I’m not surprised he’s eaten at Nando’s. The beauty of Prince Harry and Prince William is that they’re really accessible and they are guys that go out a lot – I’m very happy that they’ve tried it.
“I was certain they would have tried it because they’re so accessible they’re people’s people, which is so nice.”
Famous Nando’s connoisseurs
Prince William is among a string of high-profile fans of the chicken chain.
The likes of Oprah Winfrey, Jay Z, David Beckham, Ricky Gervais and Rihanna have all spoken of enjoying the occasional “Cheeky Nando’s”.
One man who has never visited Nando’s, though, is arch Brexiteer and favourite to be Conservative Party leader Jacob Rees-Mogg.
