Police investigating armed carjacking in Hidden Valley

Police are searching for armed suspects after an alleged carjacking at gunpoint in the northwest on Saturday night.

Officers were called to the Hidden Valley Community Association just after 10:30 p.m. after a vehicle was reported stolen.

Police said a number of people were sitting in the vehicle parked in the community centre parking lot when two young men approached the car and asked for the time.

The men then asked to use a cell phone, but the encounter turned sour when police say one of the men produced what’s believed to be a firearm and demanded the victims get out of the car.

Police described the two suspects as 18- to 20-year-old black men were wearing dark clothing.

One of the men had a darker complexion, was clean shaven and was around six-feet tall with a thin build.

The other male had a lighter skin, stood around five-feet-nine inches tall weighing between 160 to 170 pounds. Police said the second suspect also had a thin, scraggly beard.

Police said the stolen vehicle is a blue 2009 Mazda 3.

Anyone with information about the suspects or the vehicle are asked to contact the Calgary Police Service non-emergency line at 403-266-1234.
