Police investigating after three houses struck by bullets in Castle Rock subdivision

Police are investigating three reports of bullets striking homes in a northeast Castle Rock subdivision over a three-week period.

The initial report came Dec. 14, police said Saturday, when a resident of Cobblestone Ranch reported hearing a loud banging noise. Police later found the damage to be consistent with a bullet, the release said.

Police have received two similar calls since, including one Saturday. A resident on Esmeralda Drive came home about 2 p.m. and found a bullet had gone through his garage door, landing just inside on the ground, police said.

On Dec. 16, police were called to Blue Water Circle after a resident had heard a gunshot and what sounded like a projectile passing nearby.

“These are obviously very concerning incidents for our community as well as the police department,” Police Chief Jack Cauley said. “We are fortunate these incidents have only resulted in property damage and that nobody has been seriously injured.”

Police do not believe at this time that the incidents have been intentional, the release states.

Police are asking if people know where the gunfire is coming from to contact them at 303-663-6100. Police also ask for people that live in the subdivision and have damage consistent with a bullet causing damage to their property, to notify them at 720-733-3517 or by email at CrimeTips@CRgov.com.
