Canyon got a stellar pitching performance from William St. Marseille in a 7-0 win over La Habra in the first game of a doubleheader between the two teams. The Cal Baptist University commit pitched six shutout innings, allowed just two hits and struck out six. John Landry provided some offense for Canyon with two hits, three runs batted in and a stolen base. Ethan Schmidt was 2-2 at the plate and scored two runs in the win. The second game of the doubleheader was called due to darkness with the score tied at one after six innings. Brook Razook threw six shutout innings for Canyon in the second game.

Ted Burton hit a game-winning home run in the eighth inning of the season opener to give Edison a 2-1 win over El Dorado. Burton is a University of Michigan signee. Matt Swartz pitched three innings of scoreless relief to earn the win for the Chargers. Edison plays Trabuco Hills on Tuesday before playing Aliso Niguel in the Loara Tournament.

A pair of Corona del Mar pitchers blanked Fullerton in a 2-0 shutout at Corona del Mar High. University of Tennessee commit Tommy Wilcox and senior pitcher Tanner Ivey combined for a one-hit shutout. Luc Stuka drove in the game’s only runs with a two-run home run in the fifth inning. Izzy Orozco pitched five innings for Fullerton and got the Indians’ only hit of the game.

Cypress pitcher Cameron Repetti picked up right where he left off last season by pitching a complete game shutout against Gahr in the team’s season opener. The Cal State Fullerton commit allowed five hits in the shutout. Cypress plays Downey Tuesday in the first game of the Loara Tournament.
