A manager at a Nissan dealership in Barrie, Ontario is facing charges after being caught on security cameras allegedly damaging vehicles at a different Nissan dealership in the nearby town of Orillia.
According to CTV News, Douglas Ross was arrested and charged with three counts of mischief over $5,000.
From the security camera footage, Ross appears to be using a set of keys to scratch the rear window, liftgate and sides of a new SUV.
“You don’t do something like that by accident, that’s a specific intent,” offered OPP Constable Martin Hill.
The general manager of the dealership in Orillia, Krista Kemp, says she can’t understand why Ross would do this, and describes their relationship as “friendly.”
“I can’t really speculate on what was going through Doug’s mind, on why he decided we were a target for him,” she says.
“I went to Mexico on a Nissan plant meeting and sat beside him the entire day and talked to him, and I never would have thought this of this person.”
Ross has been suspended from his position at the dealership, and Kemp says she’s ready to put the whole ordeal behind her, as it’s already cost tens of thousands of dollars.
