Major crimes investigators are looking into the death of a man whose body was found in a rural area near Wetaskiwin.
The body of the middle aged man was discovered near Range Road 243A and Township Road 473.
RCMP were called to the area at about 1 a.m. Sunday. One of the Mounties’ major crimes units has been called in to help with the investigation. However, the death has not yet been deemed suspicious.
A news release stated there was no concern for public safety. Members of the public were asked to avoid the area, as police would be on scene for an “indeterminate” amount of time.
Any one with information about the man’s death was asked to contact RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
Police did not identify the man or release any additional information about the case.
Wetaskiwin is about 70 km south of Edmonton
