Man who died in parking lot was suspected Target shoplifter who collapsed while fleeing, Jeffco sheriff says

The adult male who died outside a Target store in Littleton on Wednesday afternoon was suspected of stealing drones from the store before collapsing in the parking as he attempted to flee, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s spokesman Mike Taplin said the man, who has not been publicly identified, ran to an urgent care facility near the intersection of Bowles Avenue and Flower Street after allegedly stealing the drones, telling people that he was being followed.

He then ran back outside and collapsed in the parking lot, where he was pronounced dead, Taplin said.

The coroner’s office will determine the cause of death, the sheriff’s office said.
