A 24-year-old man riding a bicycle was seriously injured and airlifted to hospital in Edmonton after he collided with a train.
The man was cycling near 47 Avenue and 49 Street in Wetaskiwin when he was struck by a CP Rail train, RCMP spokeswoman Cpl. Laurel Scott said Saturday. Police received a call about the collision just before 5 p.m.
Paramedics initially took the man to hospital in Wetaskiwin, then STARS Air Ambulance took him to hospital in Edmonton. Scott did not know if his injuries were life-threatening.
Wetaskiwin is 70 kilometres south of Edmonton.
