Denver police do not believe there was anything criminal in nature regarding the death of a person in a King Soopers parking lot in southeast Denver on Friday night.
“There is no criminal nexus to this,” Sgt. John White, a Denver police spokesman, said. “We are not looking for any suspects.”
Police responded to reports of shots fired around 7:30 p.m. at the intersection of East Hampden Avenue and South Monaco Parkway. When officers arrived, they found a person dead inside a van in a King Soopers parking lot.
Denver police’s initial tweet about a “disturbance” stemmed from the report of gunfire, White said.
Monaco Parkway was closed in both directions for a short time Friday night as police investigated the incident.
