Man charged after knifepoint cab-jacking

A 51-year-old man is facing charges laid after a cabbie was carjacked at knifepoint in the city’s east end Wednesday.

It happened at around 6:10 p.m. at the intersections of Marquette and Beechwood avenues, where the suspect had directed the driver.

Upon arrival, the passenger brandished a knife, ordered the driver out of his seat and drove off with his taxi, police allege in a release Friday.

The taxi was recovered shortly afterwards.
