Man allegedly kidnapped victim at knife point in Denver, forced him to drive around the city for hours

Denver police are asking for help in identifying a man suspected of carjacking, kidnapping a person at knife point and forcing them to drive around the city for five hours to various locations.

The suspect is described as a man in his 40s, who is about 5-feet-7 tall. He was wearing a grey, hooded sweatshirt and sweatpants, according to a Denver police crime alert. He was also allegedly armed with a long metal bar and a gun.

The suspect entered the male victim’s car at about 1 a.m. on Thursday and forced the victim to drive around town.

The suspect got out of the car at a Starbucks at West Colfax Avenue and North Lipan Street at around 6 a.m. The victim was not harmed and nothing was taken from him, Christine Downs, a Denver police spokeswoman, said.

His image was captured on surveillance film.
