Fire crews were kept busy on Tuesday afternoon after firefighters were called to a kitchen fire that caused an estimated $80,000 in damages in Saskatoon’s Hudson Bay Park neighbourhood.
At roughly 2:12, the Saskatoon Fire Department (SFD) received a 911 call reporting a kitchen fire at a home located at 1152 Avenue K North, according to a news release.
Several crews, including three fire engines, a rescue unit and an aerial ladder truck, were all dispatched to the scene and when they arrived, they saw smoke exiting the house through a front window.
Fire crews engaged the fire and were able to contain, control and extinguish the blaze quickly. Fire crews also ventilated the home as a way to clear any remaining smoke.
A fire investigator with the SFD determined the cause of the fire was accidental and was the result of cooking.
