GILGIT: Three policemen were martyred in a militant attack on a police checkpoint in Gilgit’s Kargah area on Saturday.
The police checkpoint was attacked by at least ten militants and two were killed in retaliatory firing by police officials, the remaining attackers managed to escape after the attack.

Gilgit Baltistan’s Diamar District is consider the safe heaven of militants.
Gilgit Baltistan Government has failed to counter extremist groups so far. Opposition parties said that GB Governments had failed to counter terrorism and CM was not dealing terrorist with iron hands.
Amjad Hussain Azar, provincial president of Pakistan Peoples Party Gilgit Baltistan reacted on Diamar schools attacks and said that terrorism laws were being used against political activists in GB, “why CM GB dropped the names of militants from 4th schedule who attacks on schools in Diamar”, he questioned.
It is the general public perception that after series of attacks by militants, there was no quick and resultful reaction by GB Government
it is to assume that GB Governments deliberately wants to create a law and order situation in the area.
