Grandson Is Donating Part Of His Hangout Festival Fee To Fighting Alabama’s Anti-Abortion Bill

The Alabama “human life protection act” should be called the Alabama woman hating restriction act.” – Grandson.

Noted outspoken and politically conscious artist Grandson has spoken up about a proposed bill in the state of Alabama which would make abortion illegal in almost every single case.

Grandson is set to perform at Hangout Festival in Alabama this weekend, and as a result of the proposed law change to criminalise abortion, he is using his platform to take a stand.

Taking to Twitter to voice his concerns about the “Human Life Protection Act”, he also revealed that he will be donating a portion of his Hangout Festival appearance fee to The Yellowhammer Fund – a charitable organisation that provides funding for anyone seeking care at one of Alabama's three abortion clinics, and also helps with other barriers to access (like travel and lodging).

“The Alabama “human life protection act” should be called the Alabama woman hating restriction act. It actively sets back the human race as a whole to watch a country that has served as a beacon for human rights continue to assault the freedom of women, rape survivors,” Grandson shared. “No additional funding for birth control, sex education. No additional public funding for daycare, maternal leave+support.

“If it were the men in Alabama’s courthouses getting pregnant, the mere thought of this sort of draconian prohibitive abortion stance would be met with ridicule and outrage. As usual, it is those who can’t fight back who are used as political scapegoats for religious fanaticism.”

Grandson continued “If you don’t believe in abortion, don’t fucking get one. Leave your god out of my life. If you have some sort of disdain or prideful ignorance towards science, technology, medicine, quietly seethe between bites of your microwaveable TV dinner and leave the rest of humanity alone.”

He then announced “I will be playing Hangout Fest in Alabama this weekend. I will be donating a portion of my contract to The Yellowhammer Fund. They provide support and assistance to those relying on abortion clinics in Alabama. We will be performing and making our voices heard as scheduled.”
