Hailed for his experimental territories and creative vision, Flying Lotus has lent his hand to another film score — Perfect— and given the world a preview taste of his soundtrack in a short clip from the film. The upcoming Eddie Alcazar sci-fi film will be coming to theaters in a month, showing in May 17 and May 24 in NYC and LA, respectively. Alcazar has been named on the Filmmaker’s 25 to Watch list; Perfect is also executive-produced by acclaimed filmmaker Steven Soderbergh and will be released through Brainfeeder’s film division. The film premiered at SXSW in March and was met with reception as a festival favorite.
Perfect centers around an emotionally troubled young man who seeks relief of his dark visions in a clinic, but pays the price with body alterations. A trippy, horror-like premise with an equally twisted soundtrack by FlyLo complement each other to say the least.
Flying Lotus also previously collaborated with Alcazar on short film FUCKKKYOUUU. His last studio album You’re Dead! was released back in 2014. Since then, Flying Lotus has moved his focus to film and television projects, showcasing his directorial debut with Kuso and scoring upcoming Netflix anime Yasuke. However, he has confirmed that a new album is on its way despite not having a set release date.
