The air quality is expected to remain poor until later this afternoon.
On top of the air quality , forecasters are also warning about patches of fog in and around Edmonton Monday morning.
Environment Canada issued a fog advisory with near zero visibility for the city, as well as surrounding communities including St. Albert, Sherwood Park, Fort Saskatchewan, Devon, Drayton Valley, Leduc, Camrose, Lloydminster, Spruce Grove and Westlock.
“An extensive area of fog around the Edmonton Metro and eastward toward Lloydminster has formed, and this will reduce visibilities at times to near zero,” Environment Canada said.
