Dust devil seen touching down in Southern California

A dust devil touching down near Perris was captured in a unique photo posted by the National Weather Service on social media Wednesday.

The stark looking, black-and-white photo was posted shortly after 8:30 p.m. to the NWS San Diego account on Twitter.

A low-pressure system will persist over California well into next week that will maintain onshore flow with periods of gusty southwest to west winds in the mountains and deserts and seasonally cool days.

That’s according to a NWS forecast for areas of western Riverside and southwest San Bernardino counties. Peak wind gust reports 30 to 40 mph are possible in wind-prone areas.
