Dua Lipa and Anne-Marie lead Brit award nominees with four each

The Brit award nominees for 2019 have been announced and two females solo artists are leading the way.

Dua Lipa and Anne-Marie both earned four nominations in this year’s Brit nominations announced on Saturday.

Pop star Lipa collected two nominations for British single and two for British artist video of the year – where girl group Little Mix is also on the shortlist.

Anne-Marie, who featured on Clean Bandit’s Rockabye alongside Sean Paul, also got four nods, including one for British female solo artist.

Jorja Smith returns to the Brits to pick up three nods for British album, British female solo artist and British breakthrough act.

And the race for best British album sees Smith’s Lost & Found, The 1975’s A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships and George Ezra’s UK number one album Staying At Tamara’s go head to head.

Despite increased representation, grime and UK hip hop feature less prominently this year, with only London rapper Giggs and afroswing artist Ramz receiving nods.
