Driver in Castle Rock dies after crash with school bus

A driver died Friday after a crash with a school bus in Castle Rock, police said.

The crash happened at about 7 a.m. at the intersection of 5th and Perry streets, police said.

The driver of a small SUV had to be extricated from the wreckage. She was taken to a local hospital where she died, according to a news release.

There were five passengers, ages 14 to 17, and a driver on the Colorado Early College school bus. No one on the bus was injured.

The crash remains under investigation. The victim, who was a Castle Rock resident, was not identified Friday.
