Denver weather: Hot, with scattered storms later in the day

Metro Denver could see scattered thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening Friday, while the eastern plains might bear the brunt of more severe storms.

Temperatures are expected to reach a high of 85 degrees in Denver, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.

Some storms will have gusts up to 40 mph, NWS said.

The weekend looks to be much of the same: A little cooler than Friday, with more showers and storms, forecasters said.
