The No. 5 ranked Denver Pioneers came up short Friday night losing their first game of the season, 4-3 against No. 2 St. Cloud State.
The Pios had two big downfalls that cost them the game. The first being penalties, as they allowed five power plays the through two periods. The other being the second period as the Huskies did most their damage against the Pios scoring three of four goals that period.
In the end, the better team won as Denver was out played and outshot, 58-32 on the night.
Denver looks to rebound Saturday night at St. Cloud State at 7 p.m.
