Dash-cam footage sought in Strathcona County RCMP homicide investigation

Mounties believe dash-cam footage from the public could hold vital clues in their homicide investigation into the death of Gursumeet Singh Brar, whose body was found dumped south of Sherwood Park over the weekend.

The body of the 25-year-old Sherwood Park resident was found on a rural property near Highway 14 and Range Road 231 in Strathcona County shortly after 8:30 a.m. Saturday.

At the time, police said his death seemed suspicious and brought in the major crimes unit.

An autopsy conducted Sunday determined his death to be a homicide.

No further details were released by Mounties as to how Brar died but on Monday they released a statement asking for footage.

In particular they are looking for footage from the area of Sherwood Drive between Township Road 522 and Wye Road on Nov. 28 from around 7 p.m. that may include a vehicle of interest, a black 2012 Ford F-150.

Anyone with footage is asked to contact Const. Tara St. Denis at 780-509-3292 or email tara.st.denis@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
