Three days after initial reports that Georgia defensive coordinator Mel Tucker will be named the new head football coach at Colorado, there is still nothing official.
As of Monday, CU had yet to make an announcement or even confirm the reports.
BuffZone.com reached Tucker by phone on Monday. He did not deny the reports, but simply said he couldn’t comment on the situation.
“I wish I could, but I can’t at the moment,” he said.
The only word from CU throughout the search, which began Nov. 18, came Saturday, when an athletic department spokesman denied rumors of Tucker’s imminent hire.
“(Athletic director Rick George) has not offered the head coaching position to anyone at this point; he is still in the discussion and evaluation stages and won’t make a decision on a final candidate until early next week,” the statement from CU read.
