A Cornwall man faces a handful of criminal charges after allegedly assaulting another man with bear spray.
The Cornwall Community Police Service says a man went to the home of the victim Tuesday, pointed a gun at him, then discharged a can of bear spray in his direction. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued.
Taylor Bergeron, 28, of Cornwall was arrested Tuesday and charged with two counts of assault, two counts of weapons possession, administering a noxious substance, pointing a firearm and probation violations.
Carrying bear spray is legal for use against bears, but it is illegal to carry it for use against a person, or to use it for that purpose.
