Columbine High School, Leawood Elementary School, Blue Heron Elementary School and all of Jefferson County’s mountain schools have been placed on lockout Tuesday afternoon for unspecified reasons, Jeffco Public Schools said in a tweet.
Less serious than a lockdown, a lockout means that activity inside the schools will continue as scheduled, but entry and exit is restricted. The reason for the lockout is not publicly known.
Mountain schools included in the lockout are Evergreen High School, Evergreen Middle School, Conifer High School, West Jeff Middle School, West Jeff Elementary Schools, Bergen Meadow Elementary School, Wilmot Elementary School, Marshdale Elementary School, Elk Creek Elementary School, Ralston Elementary School, Rocky Mountain Academy and Parmalee Elementary School.
We have placed #ColumbineHighSchool, #LeawoodElementary, @bhelementaryco and all mountain schools on lockout. No further information at this time. Lockout means biz as usual inside buildings, entry/exit restricted. More on emergency procedures here: https://t.co/n6ogfznIp7
