The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival begins its two weekend run at the Empire Polo Club in Indio today, April 13, and as has been the case before, the opening of the gates were delayed.
The opening of the gates, which was scheduled for 11 a.m., was pushed back two hours to 1 p.m. while final festival tweaks and set-up took place.
A delay on the first day of the first weekend isn’t unusual. With the massive changes to the field this year, the postponement isn’t totally unexpected.
Along the green entrance, when the gates opened at 1 p.m., eager fans pushed to the fences and crowded the security line. Along the yellow path, things proceeded smoothly.
While it’s cooler and breezier today than many Coachellas past, fans eagerly awaited entering.

So @coachella gates still not open 2 hours later with no word from them. This is going to get ugly.
