Chevrolet rolls out two special edition Colorado trucks

Chevrolet is releasing two new special edition Colorados for 2019, one tuned to take you off the beaten path; and the other to keep you on it, in honour of the Colorado’s fourth year in production.

The Chevrolet Colorado is no stranger to off-road upgrades, with the ZR2 leading the pack with a host of upgrades to make it a killer off-road vehicle.

But maybe you don’t need that dirt in your daily.

Enter the Colorado Trail Runner in blue, a Z71 with the same stamped-aluminum skid plates and rocker protection as the ZR2; and Goodyear Duratec tires, which should make the truck more fun off-road without going whole-hog into the ZR2 vibe.

The street-focused 2019 RST is based on the LT trim and adds monochromatic exterior offset with black beltline and body side moldings. It also adds a black tailgate bowtie, Colorado and RST badges. The RST is also the first Colorado to offer 20-inch wheels – finished in low-gloss black.

The other special edition, pictured in white, is called the RST, and for the most part it’s an appearance package for the LT-trim Colorado. Almost all the chrome is blacked out to give a more toned-down look, including the tailgate bowtie, the side moldings and even the optional 20-inch rims.

The grille for both trucks has been swapped out to one that lets air flow through large “CHEVROLET” lettering, which looks good whether you’re on asphalt or in the mud.

Pricing and availability for these trucks has not been announced yet, but we’re expecting them sometime soon, as they are a 2019 model year vehicle.
