Cantley man arrested for New Year’s Day holdup

A 36-year-old Cantley man will spend the weekend in jail after police arrested him Friday night in connection with a knifepoint robbery at a service station on New Year’s Day.

Investigators were able to identify a suspect thanks to a description of the man provided by a store employee.

In addition, examination of security video from the scene on Montée de la Source provided information about a suspect vehicle.

The suspect is to appear in Gatineau court Monday on charges including robbery, disguise for criminal purposes and possession of a weapon.
