Audi Returns To Super Bowl With New Electrified 60-Sec Ad

Audi has confirmed that it will air a 60-second commercial during the second quarter of Super Bowl LIII, scheduled for February 3.

The German car manufacturer’s ad spot will be focused on electrification and feature a number of Audi e-tron models, most notably the e-tron SUV. The Audi e-tron GT Concept will also be featured, despite not yet being on sale. A teaser image previewing the commercial also appears to show either the Audi Elaine Concept or the E-Tron Sportback Concept both of which were revealed in 2017.

This year’s commercial will be the 10th Audi has produced for the big game.

“We’re returning to the biggest advertising stage to let America know that electric has gone Audi,” vice president of marketing for Audi of America, Loren Angelo said.

“Last fall, Audi introduced its first all-electric production e-tron SUV followed by the e-tron GT concept debut at the LA Auto Show, signaling an aggressive push into electrification. The big game is a perfect platform to continue the momentum.”

Companies looking to air a 30-second commercial during the Super Bowl typically have to part ways with a little over $5 million.

As you’re probably already aware, the Audi e-tron SUV is the company’s first all-electric vehicle in its new range of Tesla-fighting models. The SUV will be followed up by the production version of the e-tron Sportback in 2020 while the e-tron GT sedan will follow soon after. Audi intends on offering more than 20 all-electric and plug-in hybrid models before 2025.
