AKRON, Ohio – The Akron Zoo’s third annual Wild Lights events is scheduled for select weekends in November and December.
Themed weekends begin Nov. 23 and feature thousands of holiday lights and festivities such as ice carvers, characters in costumes and carolers from local schools. For the first time, event attendees can skate on the zoo’s ice rink for an additional $5, which includes the skate rental.
Zoo guests attending Wild Lights also can attend Snack with Santa for an additional $5 per person. Snack with Santa admission includes a visit with Santa, a letter-writing station and cookies and hot beverages.
The zoo’s Komodo Cafe will offer a special menu for the events and Mrs. C’s Sweets will offer s’mores and other holiday treats for sale. Guests ages 21 and older can also buy adult beverages at the new Ice Beer Garden.
Wild Lights is scheduled for 5 to 9 p.m. on the following dates: Nov. 23-25, Nov. 30, Dec. 1-2, Dec. 7-9, Dec. 14-16, Dec. 21-23 and Dec. 26-30.
Tickets are available for purchase at akronzoo.org or at the Akron Zoo box office. Akron Zoo members can buy tickets 24 hours in advance for $9 for adults and $6 for children. Day-of tickets for members are $12 for adults and $9 for children. Non-members can buy tickets 24 hours in advance for $12 for adults and $9 for children. Day-of ticket prices for non-members are $15 for adults and $11 for children. Parking/shuttle fees are $3.
