Adverse weather closes I-25 in both directions Friday night over Raton Pass

Interstate 25 is closed in both directions over Raton Pass due to adverse weather.

The 7,384-foot high pass, which connects Colorado and New Mexico, was shut down at about 9 p.m., according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.

Trinidad is on the approach to the pass in Colorado and Raton is located on the south side of the pass in New Mexico.

Officials did not say then the pass is expected to reopen. Snow was falling in Trinidad on Friday night, according to the National Weather Service.
