2019 Audi Q8 Is A Surprisingly Practical And Relaxing Crossover

People looking to buy a large premium Coupe-style crossover can now add the Audi Q8 to their shortlist, alongside other similar products such as the Mercedes GLE Coupe or the BMW X6.

Is the Q8 worth spending considerably more than you would on a Q7 though? If we take into account the price difference and the fact that the Q7 can seat more people, then your average guy (or gal) might just look at the latter and see better value.

At least, that’s how Carwow presenter Mat Watson feels, who isn’t quite convinced that the Q8 is an ideal vehicle for everyone, despite appreciating many of its strengths and features.

For example, some buyers might not like the fact that the Q8 costs roughly £13,600 more than the Q7 in the UK, while in the U.S., there’s a $17,500 difference between the two. Still, if money isn’t an issue and you don’t need room for seven, know that the Q8 is a surprisingly spacious product, despite its sloping roof.

Thanks to its rear-wheel steering system, the Q8 is also very maneuverable and easy to drive around town, as well as a very relaxing cruiser, one that’s extremely stable at highway speeds. On the flip side, the transmission proved to be a little bit slow to respond, which is surprising to say the least.

As for the Q8’s 3.0-liter V6 diesel unit, it produces 286 PS (282 HP) and 600 Nm (442 lb-ft) of torque, which is sufficient so as to take you from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 6.3 seconds, which is similar to what a V6 TDI-powered Q7 can do.
